Description
This necklace used to be a head piece, but it had bigger dreams. The materials have a say in what they become. I was inspired to learn about Mexico's native flowers and their beauty. The first piece I made didn't last, but not because it wasn't beautiful. The materials and I agreed that they could be more. Instead of fixing it, I took to my workbench to create something entirely new. I stumbled upon a broken Coral necklace at an estate sale and knew it would pair perfectly with the copper flowers. And thus, a maximalist lariat was born - a piece that encourages contemplation of native flowers, ensuring they are cherished by future generations just as our ancestors once did!
The coral was re-knotted with blue leather and clasps at the front to for ease of wear.
The necklace is 16 inches in length
