El Techichi is Gender Neutral maxamalism
Adornment was ours before gender norms where forced on indigenous people by colonizers so why limit ourselves now. El Techichi challenges us to indulge in our most maxamalist jewelry dreams!!
The future is ñuu'savi
The Ñuu'savi (People of the Rain) are known for their work in ceramics and jewelry. They were know to be makers of the most ornate gold items mostly from lost wax. Their work was sought out by the Aztec elite.
My vision is to continue this tradition by giving myself and other Ñuu'savi artist and artisans the visibility to make the future of jewelry and fashion more indigenous!
The Ñuu'savi and Ñaa'savi are indigenous people from the Sierra Mixteca in Oaxaca, we live in areas near the top and bottom of the sierra. My family and I family come from a small pueblo in La Baja Mixteca called Plan del Vergel, near Mariscala de Juarez and San Martin Zacatepec. I grew up in Huajuapan de Leon Oaxaca.
